Monday the Lady Reapers traveled all the way to Grant Park, which is five minutes away from the Indiana border, in order to play in the wind and cold.
Varsity
The Varsity ladies took the field first and battled against Grant Park. We struggled a bit to create many offensive opportunities and our defense struggled a bit as well. However, this was our first game of the season and for many of our team this was their first game ever. I am encouraged by what I saw. The final score was 0-6.
JV
The JV ladies played very well in the bitter cold. It took a while to get their legs warmed up, but they were able to be many good plays together. The midfields did pretty well working both sides. With about 5 minutes left to go in the game, Stephanie Phlyactos broke through the Grant Park defense and was able to slip a ball past the goalie giving us the first goal of our season.
